What is Teen Life Coaching?
It is an hour long session or sessions that would resemble a tutoring session. It focuses on the person, and the present. What challenges exist today, and what goals can be set to get through tomorrow, this week, or this month. What strategies can we develop to use the present challenge to recognize patterns of responsibility or other obstacles that can interfere with making good decisions to improve tomorrow.
What would happen during a coaching session?
You and I would sit down and discuss what issues you are facing today. What situations do you feel you have lost control over? An honest conversation between two people focused on noticing patterns, personality strengths, and realistic short term goal setting for the immediate future.
I strongly believe that my clients need strategies to deal with the here and now. The uncertainty that each day can bring in the life of a teenager is underrated in its level of need for immediate resolution. Realistic strategies for dealing with the feeling of powerlessness are discussed and goals are set to work toward taking responsibility for one’s own happiness and circumstances.
What Teen Life Coaching is not?
It is not psychotherapy. It is not a replacement for therapy to resolve problems from the past, or to heal emotional scars.
Typical topics during a session might include:
Short term goal setting and recognizing obstacles
Decision making skills
Negative feelings toward self and others
Techniques for managing stress, anger, or negativity
